Why stay with us · Bundaberg events

Bundaberg events,
the riverside base.

Bundaberg's event calendar has five or six anchor dates each year — the Multicultural World Cup in July, Oceanfest in August, Taste Bundaberg across September, Queensland Rum Day on 25 October, and Milbi Festival through the front of turtle nesting season. Burnett Riverside Hotel is the riverside CBD base: walking distance to the river precinct, a short drive to the distilleries and to Mon Repos, and a small block of held Riverview rooms across each established peak.

Milbi Festival

Bundaberg + Mon Repos. First Nations culture + marine turtle nesting.

Bundaberg Show ran 27–29 May 2026; the 2027 dates have not yet been confirmed by the Bundaberg Show Society. The annual Bundaberg Rum Festival schedule is also pending; we'll add it once confirmed.

When to book ahead

  • Multicultural World Cup — Saturday 11 July 2026. Free community event during NAIDOC Week; the Friday and Saturday nights tighten as out-of-town teams arrive.
  • Taste Bundaberg — 4–13 September. The strongest accommodation peak. Producer-dinner weekends (the first and second Saturdays) sell out 6–8 weeks ahead.
  • Queensland Rum Day — Saturday 25 October. Friday and Saturday nights tighten. Book the rum distillery tour the same week you book the hotel.
  • Milbi Festival — late October / early November. Pairs with turtle nesting at Mon Repos — combined demand pushes the late-October weekends.
  • Oceanfest — August. Family-oriented; school-holiday weekends are the tighter dates.

For every date listed, our held block is small. Email bookings@burnettriverside.com.au with the event name and party size; we'll quote from the held block while stock lasts.

The base, the brief

  • Central, walkable. 7 Quay Street, on the Burnett River; five minutes' walk to the CBD; quick rideshare to the distilleries; 15 min east to Mon Repos and Bargara Beach.
  • H2O Restaurant & Bar downstairs. Open Mon–Sat from 4 pm; happy hour 4–6 pm; the natural anchor between event activities.
  • Free secure underground parking. 2.2 m clearance — keep the car off the street during festival traffic.
  • Function rooms on site if your group needs a sponsor reception, school-event briefing, partner dinner or pre-festival meeting alongside the public programme.
  • Quiet rooms available. Riverview rooms and rooms ending 03–10 are the quietest stock — ask for them at booking when staying through a festival week.

Bundaberg events — the answers.

Which Bundaberg events sell out hotels first?
Taste Bundaberg (4–13 September) and the Bundaberg Multicultural World Cup (11 July 2026) are the strongest accommodation peaks — Taste because the marquee dinners pull regional visitors for the full ten days; the Multicultural World Cup because it sits inside NAIDOC Week and brings teams in from outside Bundaberg. The night before Queensland Rum Day (Friday 24 October) is also tight as visitors arrive for the Saturday distillery experience. Lock rooms 6–8 weeks ahead for any of these.
Is the Bundaberg Multicultural World Cup ticketed?
Free entry for spectators and families. Futsal teams must register in advance and meet the minimum player requirements; registration closes Wednesday 8 July 2026 at 12:00 pm. Players sign in on the day; players under 18 must be signed in by a parent or guardian. Event runs 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at Shalom Catholic College, with the futsal competition at The Hangar and Indoor Sports Centre.
Where do I stay for Mon Repos turtle nesting and Milbi Festival?
Burnett Riverside Hotel is 13.7 km / 21 min from Mon Repos Conservation Park — the closest CBD-based hotel to the largest mainland-east-coast turtle rookery. Milbi Festival programming runs across the city in late October / early November and aligns with the front edge of nesting season. Full details and the late-return logistics on our Turtle season at Mon Repos hub.
Can I get a meeting or function room during an event week?
Yes — the function centre is independent of the events listed here. Three on-site rooms: Burnett Room (up to 70 theatre / 60 banquet), Quay Room and Vue Room (each 25 theatre / 20 banquet). Useful if you're running a delegation, school group, sponsor reception or partner event around one of the Bundaberg festivals. Capacities and pricing on our Functions page.
Do you hold rooms for known Bundaberg event dates?
Yes — we hold a small block of Riverview rooms across the established annual dates (Taste Bundaberg, Queensland Rum Day, Multicultural World Cup, Milbi). Email bookings@burnettriverside.com.au with the event name and party size and we'll quote from the held block while stock lasts.
