Booking & rates

How do I get the best rate?
Book direct at book-directonline.com. Direct bookings carry our best-rate guarantee — the same room is never cheaper on a booking site — and there are no booking fees or third-party change penalties.
What is your cancellation policy?
Standard bookings can be changed or cancelled up to 2 pm property time, 48 hours before arrival. After that point a one-night accommodation fee applies; no-shows are charged in full. Non-Refundable rates can't be changed or cancelled. Long-stay rates (7–30 nights) carry a 2-night cancellation fee inside 48 hours; long-stay 30+ nights carry a 7-night fee. Group and meeting bookings are handled case-by-case under the booking contract. Bookings made through a third party follow that party's terms.
Do you offer weekly or monthly rates?
Yes — weekly and long-stay rates are available for eligible stays. Contact us directly with your dates and we'll send you the rate. Companies and agencies can also set up direct billing through a Travellers Group corporate account (see below).
Can my company set up an account with direct billing?
Yes. Burnett Riverside Hotel is part of Travellers Group, so one corporate account covers all five Travellers properties across regional QLD and NSW — negotiated rates, direct billing and consolidated invoicing. Email bookings@burnettriverside.com.au with your company details and we'll send you the application.
Can I get an invoice or receipt for work travel?
Yes — a tax invoice is issued for every stay, showing the hotel's ABN and your booking details. If you need a specific cost code, PO reference, or PTSS-compliant invoicing (for patient travel subsidy), let us know at booking and we'll set the invoice up that way.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, EFTPOS and cash. A credit card is pre-authorised at check-in for room incidentals.
Can someone else pay for my room (e.g. my company)?
Yes. For a third party to pay your room — a company card, family member or referrer — we use a credit card authority form. Let us know at booking and we'll email it through. Corporate-account guests with direct billing skip this entirely.
Why book direct instead of a booking site?
Three reasons: the best-rate guarantee (the same room is never cheaper elsewhere), the most flexible cancellation terms, and you deal with the people who'll actually look after you — booking notes, late arrivals and requests reach our front desk, not a call centre.

Arrival & check-in

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 2:00 pm; check-out is by 10:00 am. Early check-in (from 11 am) or late check-out (until 12 pm) is available for an additional $25 subject to availability — except on Sundays, when late check-out is not offered.
Can I check in late at night?
Yes. Reception is staffed until approximately 9 pm. For arrivals after that, complete the pre-check-in link in your booking-confirmation email; we'll send late-arrival instructions and your key will be waiting in our late-arrival lockbox to the right of the automatic front door (fob entry). Tell us your arrival time in the booking notes and we'll have it ready.
Do you store luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes — reception holds luggage before check-in and after check-out at no charge. For overnight luggage drops or holds outside reception hours, let us know in advance and we'll arrange the storage.
What if I need to extend my stay night by night?
We'll always try. Extensions are easier to arrange before arrival — phone or email us with your new departure date and we can usually confirm. Once you're checked in, extensions depend on what's still available; if we're sold out we'll work with you on options. For hospital and project stays, tell us your situation up front and we'll plan around it.

Rooms & facilities

Is WiFi free and is it actually fast?
Yes — WiFi is free, fast and unlimited for every guest. It handles video calls and streaming comfortably, and the TVs in every room are streaming-ready.
Do any rooms have a kitchenette?
Three room types include a kitchenette: the Family Studio, the Loft Apartment and the Two Bedroom Apartment — each with a cooktop, microwave, full-size fridge, toaster, kettle, cookware and crockery. The other six room types have a minibar with a small fridge but no cooktop or microwave. For anything more, H2O Restaurant downstairs (Mon–Sat from 4 pm) and the nearby cafes on our Location page are easy options.
Is there a guest laundry?
Yes. The guest laundry is in the basement (washing machine and dryer, $4 a load each, gold coins) and is accessed with your room key. We also offer dry cleaning — ask reception for turnaround.
Is there a desk or workspace in the room?
Yes. Every room has a desk and a comfortable chair, paired with free fast WiFi — set up for a real working stay, not just an overnight.
Do rooms have balconies and river views?
The Riverview King, Riverview Queen and Two Bedroom Apartments all have river-facing balconies. Most other rooms have river views through the windows. If a balcony is essential, book one of the named Riverview room types directly.
Do you have accessible rooms?
Yes — the Accessible Deluxe King is a ground-floor room with step-free access, safety rails and shower seating. To guarantee it, book the Accessible Deluxe King room type directly (it's a specific type, not a request). Other rooms can be reached by lift; ask reception on arrival if you need help moving luggage from the car park.
Can you provide a cot or extra bed?
Yes — we can provide a cot for infants. Tell us when you book and we'll set it up before you arrive. For rooms that sleep more than two, the Family Studio (king + 2 singles), Loft Apartment (king + sofa bed) and Two Bedroom Apartment (king + 2 singles across two rooms) already have additional beds configured.
Is smoking allowed?
All rooms and the entire building, including balconies, are non-smoking. Designated outdoor smoking areas are available outside the building.
Are the rooms quiet?
Yes — and honestly, some are quieter than others. The Riverview rooms and the Two Bedroom Apartments face the river away from the road and function spaces; among the other room types, rooms ending in 03–10 are quieter than rooms near the lift or street. Tell us at booking that you'd like a quiet room and we'll do our best subject to availability.

Location & parking

Is parking free, and what vehicles fit?
Parking is free, on-site and undercover — a secure underground car park with 2.2 m clearance, entered by your room fob from the ramp before the lobby. Vehicles that don't fit (trailers, boats, light trucks, anything over 2.2 m) use the small service road outside the hotel or the River Cruz Cafe car park next door. We recommend not leaving valuables in vehicles parked outside the building.
How far is Burnett Riverside Hotel from the centre of Bundaberg?
A 6-minute walk to Bourbong Street (the CBD's main shopping strip), and a few minutes to the courthouse, the railway station and most CBD restaurants. We're directly on the Burnett River at 7 Quay Street. The full measured table — every major destination in Bundaberg — is on our Location page.
Is the hotel walking distance to the CBD?
Yes — about 6 minutes on foot from the hotel to Bourbong Street. Easy walk to the courthouse, the council, the railway station, banks and most of the CBD restaurants without moving the car.
How far is Bargara and can I stay in town but swim at the beach?
Bargara Beach is 13.3 km / 18 minutes' drive east of the hotel — a comfortable day-trip from town. If swimming is your main focus, staying at Bargara puts you on the beach. If you want CBD restaurants, the rum distillery, business meetings or evening events plus beach swims most days, staying in town and driving across is the smart trade-off.
How far is the airport?
Bundaberg Airport (BDB) is 5.8 km / 8 minutes' drive from the hotel — about $20–25 in an Uber or local taxi. Direct flights from Brisbane (QantasLink, roughly 50 minutes).

Working stays

Which room should I pick for a longer stay?
For stays of a week or more, the kitchenette rooms — Family Studio, Loft Apartment or Two Bedroom Apartment — are usually the best fit for self-catering, working from the room and storing supplies. Mention you're staying long when you book and we'll point you at the right room type and the weekly rate.
Do you take group or team bookings?
Yes — group bookings are handled case-by-case. Email bookings@burnettriverside.com.au with dates, room count and any meal or meeting requirements; we'll come back to you with a hold and a tentative quote. For event-week dates (turtle season peak, the Show, harvest weeks) book as early as possible — those weeks fill the whole town.
When does Burnett Riverside actually sell out?
Midweek nights from February through November are our busiest — corporate travel for the hospital, food-and-beverage manufacturers and regional health and education. March through August, group bookings (often tour groups of older travellers) take a large share of rooms. The whole town also fills during the Bundaberg Show (July), Taste Bundaberg Festival (early September), Rum Festival (Aug–Sept) and turtle-season school holidays at Mon Repos (Dec–Feb peak). For these windows, book as early as you can.
Where do visiting project teams for the new Bundaberg Hospital stay?
Here. Burnett Riverside is the project-grade base for the new Bundaberg Hospital build at Thabeban: full-service rooms, three on-site meeting rooms for project sessions, H2O downstairs for working dinners, free fast WiFi for evening clinical documentation, and direct billing through Travellers Group corporate accounts for the agency or contractor managing the team. The hospital site is 5.0 km / 8 minutes from the hotel.
Are stays during the agricultural harvest supported?
Yes — we host visiting growers, agronomists, buyers and harvest crews through the season. Kitchenette rooms (Family Studio, Loft Apartment, Two Bedroom Apartment) suit longer harvest stays. Weekly rates are available; for regular harvest-season visitors, the Travellers Group corporate account delivers direct billing across our five properties (Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Emerald, Dubbo, Orange).

Families, functions & weddings

Do you have family rooms?
Yes. The Family Studio (king + two singles, kitchenette, sleeps 4), the Loft Apartment (king + sofa bed, kitchenette, split-level), and the Two Bedroom Apartment (king + two singles across two rooms, kitchenette, sleeps 5) all suit families. Contact reception to discuss the right configuration for your group.
Can I host a meeting or conference at the hotel?
Yes — three function and meeting spaces on the ground floor: The Burnett Room (136 m², up to 70 theatre / 60 banquet), The Quay Room (48 m², up to 25 theatre / 20 banquet) and The Vue Room (48 m², up to 25 theatre / 20 banquet). Same-site accommodation upstairs, H2O catering, dedicated coordinator. Email us with your dates, format and headcount.
Do you host weddings?
Yes — riverside ceremonies and receptions, with same-site accommodation for the guest block. Capacities and packages depend on the format (cocktail, banquet, theatre); email us with your date and rough numbers and we'll send the full pack.
Can we hold a wedding guest block?
Yes. For wedding guest blocks we hold a group of rooms at a negotiated rate with a single cut-off date for guests to book against the block — unsold rooms are released back to general availability at the cut-off. We coordinate with the couple's planner on the rooming list and process individual payments. Email us with your wedding date and rough numbers to start.
Do you cater conferences end-to-end?
Yes — day-delegate and full-conference packages are available, run end-to-end from the three on-site function rooms with catering by H2O and accommodation upstairs. Email us with delegate numbers, programme dates and AV requirements.

H2O Restaurant & dining nearby

When is H2O Restaurant open?
H2O Restaurant & Bar is open Monday to Saturday from 4 pm for bar and dinner; closed Sundays. Walk-ins welcome, bookings recommended for groups. Book a table.
Is breakfast available?
H2O serves dinner from 4 pm Monday–Saturday but doesn't run a breakfast service. For an early breakfast — including the pre-dawn start for a reef trip — River Cruz Cafe next door opens at 5:30 am daily. Kitchenette rooms (Family Studio, Loft, Two Bedroom Apartment) make self-catered breakfast easy.
Can I get an early breakfast before a reef trip?
Yes — River Cruz Cafe next door opens at 5:30 am daily, which is the earliest opener in the CBD. McDonald's on Targo Street is open 24/7 (drive-through and walk-in) if you need something pre-5 am. If you're in a kitchenette room, self-catering the very early start is simplest.
Where do you send guests for good coffee or breakfast?
Casa Menta on the main street (best coffee), Water Street Kitchen (pricier, top end), Oodies Cafe across the bridge in Bundaberg North, and River Cruz Cafe right next to the hotel (the early-opener at 5:30 am).
Where do you send guests for dinner out (other than H2O)?
White China (semi-fine-dining Chinese), Old Bundy Tavern (best pub food in town), Water Street Kitchen (top-notch fine dining), and Bundy Social Club (quick service, cheap filling meals, riverview).
What’s open late in Bundaberg?
NightOwl Convenience on Scotland Street is open 24/7. McDonald's Targo Street is 24/7 (drive-through and walk-in). Guzman y Gomez next door to the hotel runs late, and Subway next to GYG is open until 9 pm. Chemist Warehouse and Priceline in the CBD both open until 9 pm.

Bundaberg highlights & events

Where do I stay for turtle season at Mon Repos?
Burnett Riverside is the closest CBD-based hotel to Mon Repos — 13.7 km / 21 minutes' drive away. Turtle encounters run late November to late March (peak ranger-led nights December–February), book through Queensland Parks. Encounters finish late (often 10–11 pm); our pre-arrival check-in and after-hours lockbox make the late return easy.
How do I get to Lady Musgrave or Lady Elliot Island?
Lady Musgrave Island day cruises depart from Port Marina at Burnett Heads (18.4 km / 25 minutes from the hotel). Lady Elliot Island is a scenic flight from Bundaberg Airport (5.8 km / 8 minutes from the hotel). Both involve early starts — we'll set you up with the River Cruz 5:30 am breakfast and a late return.
When is the Bundaberg Rum Distillery tour worth booking?
Always — it's a Bundaberg essential. Tours run through the day; the full Distillery Experience takes about 1.5 hours. Book ahead during school holidays and the Rum Festival (typically August–September). The distillery is 3.0 km / 6 minutes from the hotel — close enough for an Uber back after a tasting.
What’s on in Bundaberg this year?
Our maintained events calendar lists every event worth travelling for, with dates verified against the organisers. The anchors: Taste Bundaberg Festival (4–13 September), the Bundaberg Show (July), the Bundaberg Rum Festival (Aug–Sept), turtle season at Mon Repos (Nov–Mar), and whale-watching season offshore (May–November, peak July–October).
What’s the best season for Bundaberg?
Each season offers different draws. November–March is turtle season at Mon Repos (peak Dec–Feb) and warm/humid coastal weather. May–October is cooler comfortable days with whale-watching offshore (peak Jul–Oct). September is festival peak (Taste Bundaberg, Rum Festival). July is the Show. Summer can be wet — Coral Coast summer storms pass through fast. Plan around what you most want to see.
What’s worth doing nearby that visitors usually miss?
The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens and Hinkler Hall of Aviation (same complex) — quiet, well-curated, especially good for families. Monsoon Aquatics for tropical-marine display. Bundy Bowl with the kids. And the Coral Coast beach trio — Bargara, Burnett Heads and Elliott Heads — each different in character; an easy half-day loop.
